Now I understand the concern for gas supply on a national level. But ask your self "why is it the vice president doing the calling?"

big dog think about it man. the president, his offfice, or otherwise wasn't on the job. but when it came to the oil. the vice presidents office was johnny on the spot. now one might ask why not leave the job to the appropriate department( we have an energy sec. or even commerce) like they did with the rest of the hurricane (remember FEMA wa left to "brownie, you're doing a heckuva job") i wasn't playing the race card but that is an interesting observation
how about this BD, wouldn't have been nice if there was this level of executive oversight on operations of FEMA also. I mean you have an energy Sec. and department that cheney's office went aroun, over, or whatever to make sure that the oilines were up and running. that is agood thing. but who was working around, over or whatever to make sure that FEMA was operating properly to prevent the loss of life.
